Rain hold-up

EVEN?BEFORE?this Test match began, Michael Clarke was watching out for rain. Yesterday, it came in large quantities to halt Australia’s progress in the second Test.
An afternoon of prolonged rainfall limited the Australian second innings to 30 overs after the West Indies innings was ended in the first over of the day. The visitors will therefore come back to the Queen’s Park Oval this morning on 73 for three and with decisions to make.
Keen to clinch the series, and mindful of the difficulties that will lie ahead for batsmen on this final day, Clarke must estimate how long – if he has the option – to prolong his team’s innings so his bowlers can have a reasonable chance at dismissing the West Indies a second time.
What he cannot afford is for a substantial loss of time as occurred yesterday when some 58 overs were lost.
At present, Australia’s lead is 127 after they had secured a first innings advantage of 54.
