Laden with gold and silverware, the victorious Barbados Under-16 Netball team arrived home to a lukewarm welcome yesterday evening from the 13th Caribbean Netball Association’s Jean Pierre Youth Tournament in St Vincent.
In addition to the championship trophy, Barbados won the team shooting competition, had the best goal average, were best defending team, most disciplined team and had best team spirit.
Shonica Wharton was the top individual shooter for the second year in a row and was named among the top 16 players in the tournament along with teammates, MVP Sheniqua Thomas, Sade Browne, Ashley Marshall, Tia Jones, Najee Moore and Vanessa Bobb.
Jones also shared the Young Achievers’ Award for excellence in academics and sports. (SAT)
