BLABBERMOUT’ BABSIE: Alexandra – how it gine all en’?

Dear Nesta,
Well, I always used to hear my muddah say dat evuh problem got a solution an’ I come ’long believin’ it, but dat don’ seem to be de case when it come to de Alexandra School. You would believe duh was back in de news agen last week when de teachers went on strike once mo’?
Las’ term was bare confusion. After callin’ fuh de removal o’ de principal, widout success, de teachers went ’pon strike an’ refuse to budge.
De Education Minister couldn’t do one t’ing to get it settle an’ pass it on to de PM. At de meetin’ wid de teachers, de PM ask dem to return to school, wid de promise dat Phase 2 was comin’, when he would have a solution.
Believin’ dat dis would tek place, de teachers went back to wuk to wait fuh Phase 2 to fall into place. Evuhbody was playin’ de guessin’ game but as nobody din know wuh de PM would do, we simply had to wait an’ see.
Well, de new term open las’ week an’ we still don’ know wuh happen in Phase 2. Aldoh de PM now say he long gone pas’ dat phase, we still in de dark ’cause he en seem to t’ink it necessary to put we in de know ’bout it.
Wuhevuh was de outcome in Phase 2, it don’ look to me as ef it had anyt’ing to do wid a solution ’cause de stalemate en change. We back to square one – de teachers still want de principal gone an’ he stannin’ ’e groun’.
I now hearin’ talk ’bout a commission o’ inquiry later dis year to investigate de matter so I wonderin’ ef dis might be Phase 3, as I en know hummuch mo’ phases lef’.
I t’ought sufficient investigation tek place a’ready, so wuh new information we gine now get? I en got to tell yuh wuh does happen wid some o’ dese commissions – a lotta long talk an’ not tummuch after dat.
Ness, you cyahn imagine how disapp’int I was las’ week when I realize de PM en had no solution fuh dis school. Tell de troof, I really did t’ink it was tekkin’ somewhat long fuh we to hear de outcome o’ Phase 2, but as de PM seem to be very bizzy dese days, I din min’ waitin’ fuh he decision. Only to hear now dat he en got one an’ de matter gettin’ pass on – once agen – dis time to a commission fuh solution.
Ef dem cyahn fin’ one, wuh nex’? After all, I always see a Prime Minister as de captain o’ de ship,  solve de “onsolvable” when all else fail.
Philomena c’n stop laffin’ when I tell she how I feel ’bout dis whole affair, an’ ax muh when I gine stop livin’ in fantasy lan’. But I en noticin’ she. Callin’ muh de “eternal optimis’” en gine stop muh from believin’ in miracles. ’Cause it appear dis is exackly wuh we need right now fuh de Alexandra School.
De trildrun at Alexandra got my sympat’y, faif. De adults in dis game should put duh egos one side li’l bit an’ start t’inkin’ ’bout de young people, ’specially dem dat got CXC exams comin’ up shortly. Dah atmosphere at de school mus’ be mos’ unsettlin’ fuh dem fif’ formers, an’ parents cyahn be too pleased neiduh at wuh gine on.
It is time fuh life at dah school to settle an’ t’ings to get back to normal. Wevver it is wid a new principal or new teachers, somet’ing or somebody, gotta give – an’ very soon.
Tek care o’ yuhself
Yuh frien’ Babsie
