Sir?Roy Trotman said yesterday it was unfortunate that Barbados chose “to go wild” over statements he made about the management of Diamonds International at the May Day Rally.
Under fire in some quarters for stating that the seven dismissals from Diamonds Internationals last week were undertaken by an Egyptian Jew, Sir Roy, general secretary of the Barbados Workers’ Union, said people had been sidetracked from the real issue.
“If you were to ask what the May Day address was about, few people could tell you. They have been led into believing that the May Day address was a tirade launched against somebody and that we in Barbados have gone on a racial track.
“I?say that those people who think that way are endeavouring to misguide the footprints in the address that I delivered,” he said. (MK)
