REGIONAL LEADERS are being urged to unite and provide more affordable air travel for Caribbean nationals throughout the region.
This call has come from frequent flyer and airline commentator Robert Pitcher.
“It is necessary that we keep the cost of flying in the Caribbean affordable,” he told BARBADOS BUSINESS AUTHORITY in a recent interview regarding the airline industry.
He argued that affordable travel within the region was one of the elements that would boost the realization of the Caribbean Single Market and Economy (CSME).
“If we make it so prohibitive that people can’t fly from one island to the next, then we are going nowhere fast with CSME. If, however, we have the fares that are attractive, then people will travel within the region,” he said.
