Usain Bolt is back.
The double world record holder put his unimpressive performance in the Czech Republic behind him with a season’s best 9.76 seconds in the 100-metre race at the Rome Diamond League yesterday.
Bolt ran a relatively slow 10.04 in Ostrava six days earlier, raising questions about his Olympic preparations, but blew away his competition yesterday, leaving fellow Jamaican Asafa Powell in second place in a time of 9.91 seconds.
“My drive was better and I started well,” Bolt said. “The transition was also better. After Ostrava, a lot of people questioned me, but I never questioned myself.
“Everyone has a bad race; you just got to go back to the drawing board.”
Here, Usain Bolt celebrating after winning the race.
