What is done on land affects the marine environment – this was the clear message during World Ocean Day activities at Browne’s Beach yesterday.
National Conservation Commission’s special projects officer Ricardo Marshall stressed the importance of the sea in terms of food security, transportation and leisure and the need to understand how activities on land impacted on it.
The occasion, facilitated by the Barbados Lifeguards, also saw the installation of three new refuse bins and the planting of 23 trees along the beach.
