A BIG “BOMB” EXPLODED at a certain office recently, leaving the place in total chaos.
Apparently, an old cheque was discovered buried in a filing cabinet, bearing the signature of a senior employee who, for a long time, has been suspected of taking money from customers amidst promises that he could get their documents approved.
Employees are now anxiously waiting to see what the boss is going to do with this tangible evidence. Apparently, the boss did nothing when an elderly woman came into the office crying after paying the man a hefty sum and getting nothing in return. He also did nothing when an angry man also complained that he too had been taken for ride.
Even though they have little respect for their boss, who is never coming but always going, they are marking his words since he promised to do something once he had hard evidence.
A greasy situation
THE MAIDS at a health institution have been banned from frying greasy fishcakes and bakes on the premises.
Apparently, this had become a daily ritual for the maids, who would fry the delicacies for themselves and some of the staff. But the doctors have complained that patients are coming to them smelling like grease and fish and they want an end to this practice.
Well, given that Government is trying to promote healthy eating, especially at the health institutions, the happy-go-lucky maids may want to try preparing more wholesome foods.
Money in wrong pockets
IF THERE IS one thing that church-going people live by it is the philosophy that “honesty is the best policy”. So you can imagine the anger that the congregation felt after discovering that one of the members robbed them blind.
Apparently, members of the church, which meets on Saturdays, decided to take up money for one of the ailing members who was recently diagnosed with cancer.
It was so serious that the matter was approved by the church board and it was decided that a well respected elder would collect the money and then pass it on to the unwell sister.
However, members have only recently discovered that the money was never handed over and the elder has confessed that he spent it.
Members are afraid to approach the dishonest elder about what he has done but some are urging the sick woman to go to the board and make a complaint against him.
Crying shame over son’s behaviour
RELATIVES OF A WOMAN who passed away are livid because of the selfish actions of her only son.
He not only moved out of his mother’s house to live with a woman but he hardly visited her even when she was on her death bed.
Now that she has passed away, he has returned and taken the house away from her nephew, who had moved in with her and cared for her when she was very ill.
And if that was not enough, he even enclosed the pit toilet which other family members were using.
And to make matters worse, he has gone as far as transforming the popular barber shop, which was attached to the house, into a grocery store.
Angry family members are shaking their heads, saying that he is a disgrace.
Practise what you preach
WORKERS AT A NOTED company are not being given a choice to pursue their intention to become unionized. And the task of not being nice has been left to an individual who, they say, should know better.
From what Cou Cou has gathered, quite a few of them have tried to join a union but at each turn they were thwarted. The irony is that the company promotes itself as providing choice.
The workers would like the company to start practising what it preaches.
