It did not rain goals, but it certainly showered champagne at Gall Hill Sunday night.
That was when Weymouth Wales won the Digicel Premier title after a tough goalless draw against Barbados Defence Force (BDF).
With Acting Prime Minister Richard Sealy on hand to support another one of the football success stories from his St Michael?South Central constituency, Wales, thanks to strong midfield defence and superb keeping from Bentley Springer, held off repeated waves from the BDF to move to an unassailable 40 points and clinch their 15th league crown.
The large crowd enjoyed some bruising plays and near misses as BDF fought valiantly to break Wales’ defence, knowing that only victory in that game and the next two matches would have added to the titles snatched in 1995 and 2007.
