NOTING that there was a need to introduce other ways to finance a $400 million health care system, Minister of Health Donville Inniss has called for the establishment of a national health levy.
Inniss made it clear to the DAILY NATION that Government alone could not finance the spiralling health care bill and the time had come for other options to be explored.
“We as politicians have skirted around this issue. We can’t skirt around it any longer. The state has been providing a certain level of financing every year for health care and whether it is Democratic Labour Party  or Barbados Labour Party,
it has never been enough to meet the demands of the system.
