Former head of The Alexandra School’s English Department, Margo Clarke, is skeptical about the well publicized success of the St Peter institution.
Stating that some statistics were questionable, she said someone needed to actually take time and peruse them.
Giving evidence on Day 16 of the Commission of Inquiry into the school, at the Gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Complex yesterday, Clarke said the teachers were working in a very difficult environment and much praise for its success should go to them.
She said principal Jeff Broomes did not contribute to the success of the school, including the area of English, and recalled that as a result of his all-boys literature programme, 16 out of 18 students had failed.
