PRIME MINISTER Freundel Stuart has challenged Barbadians in positions of importance and responsibility not to give up on the country.
The Prime Minister made the plea during the opening ceremony of the inaugural national consultation on the society in Barbados, a two-day event which opened at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre yesterday.
“We could lose a society if the freedom which we seek in Barbados is a freedom from responsibility. We could lose a society if the persons in positions of leadership are not doing the responsible thing. Freedom from responsibility is not an option,” Stuart asserted.
The Prime Minister added he was “disturbingly concerned” about the imbalance he had noticed in the amount of Barbadians willing to give to the country, as compared to the amount wanting to take away from Barbados.
