A hacking into a Government department is among 35 cybercrime cases investigated by local police in the last four years.
Addressing a Cyber Security Forum at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre yesterday, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Erwin Boyce said it was a case of unauthorized access to the department’s website.
The fraud investigator said none of the cases had “completed” prosecutions. Boyce said the cyber crimes fell directly under the Computer Misuse Act and most of them were malicious communication cases.
He said reports to police more often concerned threats or information revealed on a social network or through email.
