The Government will be spending $800 million over the next few years to complete its solid waste management programme.
And, according to Minister of the Environment Dr Denis Lowe, when it’s all done Barbados will be at the forefront of waste to energy conversion in the Eastern Caribbean.
The minister on Wednesday revealed the $800 million would form part of a public/private sector partnership.
Lowe’s disclosure came at the ministry’s Hincks Street headquarters during a Press briefing at which he explained his department’s plans for the International Day For The Preservation Of The Ozone Layer, which comes off on Sunday. (BA)
