Dusty time

DEALING WITH BILLOWING CLOUDS OF DUST and noisy machinery has become the routine for residents of Montrose and Kingsland as roadworks continue.
Concerned residents and business people said yesterday the roadworks were taking way too long to complete.
Reporting that they closed their windows but the dust was still getting in, they also complained of respiratory problems. Roadside vegetable vendor Carmelita Jacobs said she had to be constantly washing her produce.
This led to a call for the road to be closed off to vehicular traffic until the major portion of the work was carried out. “They need to block off the road. The dust will kill ya and I do not think I should have to sit out here and inhale this dust every day,” she said.
