COLOMBO – England looked more like the minnows than defending champions when they crumbled to India at the ICC World Twenty20 last night in the Premadassa Stadium.
Bowled out for 80 runs, their lowest ever Twenty20 score, their defeat by 90 runs was one of the biggest of the tournament after India posted 170 for four in 20 overs on another easy-paced pitch.
Although both teams have qualified for the Super Eights, India will draw a lot of confidence from their victory after topping the table in that group.
England will now play West Indies or Ireland on Thursday, depending on the outcome of today’s contest between the two sides.
