It was a case of wedding bells for their children and floods of memories of their own wedding as Wilma and Rawle Turton recently celebrated the marriages of their daughter and son.
St Leonard’s Anglican Church was abuzz as Rawle walked the couple’s daughter Carol Renee up the aisle to marry Curtis DeVere McConney in a double-ring ceremony conducted by the Reverend Jeffrey Gibson.
The bride was a picture of elegance in a strapless gown topped off by a tiara to which a short veil was attached.
Lisa Franklyn was the matron of honour while attendants included Andrea Bowen, Shanise McConney and Nicole Taylor.
Gerard Gill was the best man and groomsmen were Darren Browne, Henderson Turton and Ryan Waithe.
The wedding reception followed at Country Life, No. 3 Belle Farm, St John.
Taking the cue from his sister on August 4, Henderson Turton tied the nuptial knot with Kristin Edwards a few weeks later in a double-ring ceremony at St Thomas’ Parish Church.
The bride made a strong fashion statement in a full-length strapless gown featuring rows upon rows of asymmetrical pleating falling all the way to the flared hemline. A tiara encircled her upswept hairstyle.
Turton’s parents proudly looked on as the bride’s brother Dwayne and her mother Jasmine jointly gave her hand in marriage.
Officiating at this ceremony were Canon George Knight and the Reverend Dr Michael Clarke.
Khyla Gibson was maid of honour, while Richelle Connell, Shari Cumberbatch and Makala Holder were bridesmaids. The groomsmen were Corey Bynoe, Ogeji Dottin, Shane Thompson and Kenneth Turton. Kurt Clarke was the best man.
Captain’s Annex, Blowers, St James, was the venue for this couple’s wedding reception.
For the senior Turtons who were married in the month of August, 39 years ago, it was nostalgic to see their children follow in their footsteps. Wilma is a former chief commissioner of the Girl Guides Association.
