The?Attorney General?and the Town Planning Department are among six parties being held liable for the tragic death of Donavere Codrington, his wife Cassandra and her three children – Shaquille, Shaquanda and Yashiro.
The five lost their lives on August 26, 2007 when their apartment complex at Arch Cot Terrace, Brittons Hill, St Michael, collapsed into a cave beneath it.
Attorney at law David Comissiong has written the six – Dr Jerry Emtage, the man who bought the land at Chelston Gardens, located behind the apartment complex and who was in the process of building a set of offices there; Mahy Ridley Hazzard Engineers Limited; Lemuel Rawlins, the original owner of the land; Peter Cox, the owner of the apartment complex; the Town Planning Department; and the Attorney General.
The letter, a copy of which was obtained by the MIDWEEK NATION, the parties were informed that they were “in flagrant breach of the duty of care that was attached to them”.
