Writ filed for Garcia case

Attorney at law Comissiong yesterday filed an application for the writ of habeus corpus in the Supreme Court on behalf of his client Cuban born Raul Garcia.
He told the MIDWEEK?NATION that he expected to receive a response from the office of the Registrar within 24 hours.
“Once the determination has been made by the court to grant the writ of habeus corpus the court will send the writ to the Chief Immigration Officer and the Minister responsible for Immigration commanding them to present the body of Raul Garcia before the court at a specified date,” he stated.
Garcia, has been in immigration detention for the past three weeks at a refurbished house at the Garrison St Michael under 24 hour guard. (MB)
