Contrary to apparent public perception, there is no rift between Opposition Barbados Labour Party (BLP) MP Mia Mottley and leader Owen Arthur.
At least, that is according to Mottley, the former Leader of the Opposition, who was ousted by Arthur two years ago this month after serving for 33 months.
“Anybody in this room who knows me, knows that I don’t carry spite in me, I believe it is a wasted emotion,” she told the NATION?Talkback town hall meeting Wednesday night at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre.
“I don’t believe in an eye for an eye. There are differences in family, there are differences in friendships,” she said, adding that “Owen Arthur and I are both Librans and Owen Arthur and I both have a perspective on life that we live and we let live.
“Anyone who knows him and anyone who knows me, know that we can continue to work with one another just as easily. Equally, anyone who knows the two of us will know that he has strong views and I have strong views, but at the end of the day, we both recognize that we have a bigger duty to the country than we have to ourselves,” said Mottley, to the delight of cheering party supporters.
