The General Insurance Association of Barbados (GIAB) is again appealing to drivers to be more careful on the road.
In a release today, the association said October, particular was a “horrific month”.
“There were several serious accidents including four fatalities recorded for the month of October, bringing the total number of fatalities for the year to 23.   Last year’s total was 22. This level of carnage on our roads can easily be avoided if drivers practise defensive driving and be more considerate” it stated.
The GIAB again repeated its call for the introduction of breathalyser testing and the banning of the use of cell phones whilst driving, particularly drivers who text.
“It is clear that these accidents are occurring due to excessive speed and the inattentiveness of drivers. The Insurance body is therefore urging the driving public to be careful and not careless” noted the release. (CM/PR)
