With over 21 years’ experience in the legal field and ten years as the presiding judicial officer of the Juvenile Court, Faith Marshall-Harris has been appointed as Barbados’ Champion for Children by UNICEF.
At a ceremony at United Nations House yesterday, Minister of Family, Culture, Sports and Youth Stephen Lashley said that the Champion was one who battled for the rights or honour of children; took extraordinary interest in the adoption, implementation, and success of a cause, policy, programme, or project which would benefit children; and had a passion for children and was willing to speak out against injustice.
Therefore, he endorsed Marshall-Harris, stating that she was well qualified for the job.
The Champion for Children is a UNICEF initiative for middle income countries such as Barbados to advocate for the rights of children, particularly the most disadvantaged. (LK)
