It’s hard to say goodbye to someone who has been a colleague, mentor and friend.
That was the difficulty facing those gathered at the Island Inn Hotel on Monday to wish Florita Kentish a fond farewell as the sub-regional coordinator of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. They were full of praise for her contribution since she came here in 2010.
Kentish, who is retiring, was praised for her contribution throughout the 13 countries she served as coordinator, with compliments flowing from special guests including Minister of Commerce and Trade Senator Haynesley Benn, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture Michael King, and UN Resident Coordinator Michelle Gyles-McDonnough.
In her remarks, Kentish thanked the 26 staffers at the sub-regional office for their support and commitment to the organization. (SP/RL)
