THE MEN who never quit just refused to give up the crown in the David Thompson Memorial Constituency Council?Football Classic.
Football’s biggest prize is staying in The City after substitute Enrico Cave got on the end of a Dwayne Mars cross to score the game’s decisive goal three minutes into stoppage time and give the defending champs a 1-0 victory over Christ Church West Central in Sunday’s final at Kensington Oval.
It was the only finish fitting for a side that has become the tournament’s team of destiny after leaving so many of their wins until the dying moments with a never-say-die attitude.
“I know these guys and they never quit, never say die,” said head coach Everton “Funk” Gilkes.
