Dip in Salvation Army donations

Donations to the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Appeal have not been as forthcoming this year as in previous years, so the $40 000 injection from CIBC First Caribbean Internet Banking (FCIB) is a welcome one, says vice-chairman of the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army Barbados, Paul Bernstein.
Bernstein, who was speaking from the FCIB’s Warrens headquarters, said that this year’s contributions were 50 per cent below last year’s. He therefore appealed to Barbadians to donate to the kettles as well as to the mail appeal as it was not too late to make up the shortfall.
“When you see those bells ringing, every dollar counts; it adds up,” Bernstein said.
He thanked FCIB for the donation, stating that at times like this he felt really satisfied that corporate Barbados could see the work of the Salvation Army and wanted to contribute. (LK)
