IT IS THE SEASON for peace and goodwill to all men, but Prime Minister Freundel Stuart is not hanging on a prayer.
He was not dressed like a Grinch, and he was not advocating that people should lose faith in the Christmas message, but Stuart insisted peace has to be fought for.
Speaking at a luncheon and awards ceremony for the 30-year-old Regional Security Service (RSS) at Casa Grande Hotel, Oldbury, St Philip, on Wednesday, Stuart said security issues were just as real for people in the Caribbean as anywhere else.
Citing the “serious” security issues people faced in Grenada following the coup in 1983, which necessitated the intervention of foreign forces, including some from the region, Stuart said the region was forced into “maturity” and had to face the reality that military and other mechanisms were to handle the challenges.
