FLYING FISH & COU COU: Controversial man in the mix

Is it true that a man who would probably be voted Barbados’ most controversial, if there was such a poll, helped put together the deal for a certain company to operate here?
Well, that is the word in executive circles these days.
From what Cou Cou was told, this man, who is often seen rubbing shoulders with those who matter, was very instrumental in bringing the business and his friend together. And because he is everybody’s pal, the project still went ahead as planned, even though his friend had to relinquish control.
One of those businessmen being hurt by the deal told Cou Cou that if these claims are true, it may explain why this man used to show up at functions which had nothing to do with his area of expertise, but at which he engaged key industry players in long conversations.
Anxious times
Key operatives in a certain team are very nervous these days. They are not worried because they fear getting sacked; rather, they have no idea what the boss has in mind for them.
What has them so on edge is that this boss still has them playing in the game though they are not that individual’s choice. The boss has also made no significant changes since taking over and, if anything, is being very nice to them, and has even given one of their number a prime pick.
Some of them are saying the boss’ modus operandi could be due to the bitter experience they once had while others are saying that it could be more a case of the individual keeping their friends close but their enemies closer.
Time will tell.
No invitation
What was a certain woman thinking when she turned up at the official opening of Parliament dressed to the nines in designer wear and high heels but without the coveted invitation.
When security asked her for the invitation card she opened her handbag and pulled out her Barbados identification card instead.
The guard took one look at the woman who had a huge smile on her face and told her voting day was over, before escorting her off the compound.
Uneasy feeling
The dust has settled on the elections but the slim margin has both of the bosses feeling a bit uneasy.
It is likely that anything could happen and shift the balance of power.
The fear is such that headhunting has begun by both sides.
An approach was made recently in an attempt to woo a certain female, giving her the power to speak. But it looks like she prefers to continue her constant scribblings, only looking up on the odd occasion to heckle.
When that failed, an attempt was made at another perceived to be a weak link. But his support is so strong for his boss that he said “no”. However, the boss does not feel that is the end of that.
On the other side, members, sensing discontent already, have begun hovering around a certain man.
They believe his absence recently is a clear sign that he is the one to go after. Not only that, but he has had an ally in his opponent’s camp for a while now.
