Fire at St Thomas metal dump

There is currently a fire at the metal dump owned by B’s Recycling, Cane Garden, St Thomas this afternoon.
Police are advising motorists to avoid the area as fire officials try to get this fire under control.
A Nation team is currently on the scene and is reporting that there is a thick dark cloud of smoke coming from the dump.
Residents living closeby, including those in Melrose, Cane Garden and Arthur Seat are affected.
Police are further informing motorists traveling from the direction of the Lester Vaughan School to divert along White Hill while those approaching from the opposite direction can do so via Edghill Terrace.
Motorists, he said, are required to comply with the instructions given by police officers on duty in uniform to facilitate the traffic diversion.
Police said all efforts are being made to rectify this situation as soon as possible.
