Two ACE dance contest

Mark Burgess and Kathy-Ann Patrick, from ACE Dance Club, swept away the competition Sunday morning to win the coveted Annette Byer Solo Division trophy.
Dancing the rumba to a musical mix of soca, reggae and latin music, Burgess brought an unconventional routine that thrilled the screaming audience and impressed the judges.
Dressed as a street cleaner and using a broom as a prop, he had two men carry his partner onto the dance floor and set her up like a marionnette who came to life when the music started playing.
Burgess, was consistent throughout the competition and in this dance he stripped off the coveralls to reveal a colour printed pants.
Patrick dressed in matching colours, shimmied and strutted her stuff, shaking and ‘brukking it down” while coordinating her moves to that of Burgess to place first with 398.
The dance ended almost the same way it started, with Burgess leaving the stage and Patrick going back into her puppet stance and being carried off by the two men. Two other couples danced in that category – Shane Greaves and Megan Edwards from Genesis Dance Club who placed second with 377 points, dancing the samba and the prolific Glenford Defreitas and Shelly-ann Alleyne from Jahbulani who placed third with 364 points.
