Most Reverend Dr John Holder (at left), Archbishop of the West Indies, consecrating the oils distributed to priests for anointing of the sick.
The consecration is one of the traditions of the Anglican Church during Holy Week. The oils were later distributed to the priests after they repeated their vows at a service held at St Michael’s Cathedral on Wednesday night.
The front pews of the church were filled to capacity by priests and servers from various churches in the Anglican Diocese during the Chrism Mass while some members of the laity were also present.
Today, Christians across Barbados will be attending various services as part of the Good Friday tradition. (Picture by Shaka Mayers.)
