EVEN THOUGH HE IS not well, the patriarch of the Sons of God Apostolic Spiritual Baptist Church, Archbishop Granville Williams, could not stay away from his flock yesterday.
Reclining in the front seat of an SUV, the Archbishop caught up with his members as they made their way through Broad Street in their traditional Good Friday commemoration of the Fourteen Stations of the Cross, a dramatization of the last days of Christ.
On his arrival, members of the church rushed to the vehicle, crying, “His Excellency!” They kissed and hugged him and inquired about his health. Williams responded that he was doing well.
It was the first time that Williams was not leading his flock for this traditional Good Friday ceremony.
