Praise God!

Christians and non-believers have been encouraged to thank God for His incredible love.
In what was expected to be a follow-up to his Good Friday message, Reverend Mark Harewood drew on the inspiration of two performances to speak about God’s overflowing love for man in his Easter Sunday message at the Love & Light service yesterday morning in the St George Primary School’s Hall.
Harewood drew heavily from 1 John 3:1. “See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.
“The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know Him.”
Speaking about the movie The Passion of Christ, Harewood stressed that everyone needed to have a passion for Christ.
“The key thing to serving God is love,” he said. “It is easy to get and accept love when you are deserving of it but what about when you do not deserve love but still have it lavished on you?
“God said that the wages of sin is [death] but still He offers us the gift of eternal life. So when you start to complain about how people and the world are treating you, remember that the only thing that you deserve is death yet God gives you overflowing love and the promise of eternal life.
“Therefore in your pride and arrogance consider where you are and remember where you were and if you do not understand God’s love, you will miss the Cross.”
After a choreographed dance by His Tabernacle Dance Ministries of Tasha Cobb’s Break Every Chain and an a cappella rendition of The Lamb of God by Patrell Went, Harewood focused on the love of Jesus Christ and how his journey to earth was necessary to channel man to heaven.
Lashing out at so-called Christians who shied away from people alleged to be devil-worshippers and demon-possessed, Harewood proclaimed that he welcomed such people to his church since the word of God would deal with evil.
“I have to trust God that what they have will not come into me but what I have will overflow them,” he said.
The reverend ended his sermon by saying that Christianity was all about the strong helping the weak and that Christians needed to stop belittling God’s love for His children.
Meanwhile, many worshippers were celebrating Easter at the Guiding Light Tabernacle in Fairfield, St Michael.
Delivering the sermon, Senior Pastor Claude Clarke told his congregation: “God is bringing his people to a place of knowing Him for themselves, not only of what you read, but you must experience with God in knowing Him for yourselves and you must not only come to celebrate the resurrection but to experience the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”
The four-hour service included songs such as You Are awesome, The Lamb and Redeemer Saviour Friend. (KB/RL)
