Splash of gold

 BARBADIAN swimmers are continuing to make a splash at the CARIFTA swimming championships in Jamaica.
The Bajans secured ten medals on the third day of competition on Monday to move their overall tally to 28.
Luis Sebastian Weekes was again the standout, landing gold in the boys’ 11-12 200 individual medley and 100 metres freestyle.
Damon St Prix also won two gold medals on the day, brushing aside the competition in the boys’ 11-12 100 metres individual medley and 200 metres butterfly.
In winning the latter event in a time of two minutes, 22.71 seconds, St Prix also established a new national record.
Barbados’ other gold medal came courtesy of the girls’ 4×200 metres freestyle team of Sariyah Sherry, Tiffany Titus, Alexis Clarke and Hannah Gill.
There were two silver medals with Kendi Bynoe finishing second in the girls’ 11-12 200 metres butterfly and Amara Gibbs achieving a similar position in the girls’ 15-17 200 metres butterfly.
Bronze medal performances were recorded by Alexis Clarke in the girls’ 14-14 200 metres individual medley and Alex Sobers in the boys’ 13-13 200 metres butterfly. (HG)
