THERE IS double delight in Bank Hall.
The United Insurance Empire men’s and women’s teams swept both titles in the 2013 Barbados Hockey Federation’s Indoor Classic at the Wildey Gymnasium on Thursday night.
In a keenly contested women’s final, Empire dethroned last year’s winners Combermere School Old Scholars (CSOS), pulling off a 2-1 victory.
CSOS opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a solidly taken penalty corner conversion from the stick of former national Maria Sealy. Two minutes from half-time, Empire responded with a brilliant goal from Ayanna Maughn to level the score 1-1 at the break. (EZS/PR)
Twice the joy for Empire
