RAIN DID NOT PREVENT teams completing victories in the third round of matches in the Desmond Haynes Under-16 Knockout Cricket Competition on Sunday.
At Passage Road, Fusionz Boutique Passage United had a 25-run win over YMPC Juniors.
After a delayed start, Passage United made 115 for six from 23 overs. Leniko Boucher, Barbados’ successful captain in last year’s WICB Regional Under-15 Tournament, stroked a run-a-ball 61, decorated with seven fours and a six.
YMPC Juniors were then limited to 98 for eight as fast-bowler Chemar Holder took four for eight.
Over at Dayrells Road, Lords Juniors were dismissed for a meagre 98 in 19.5 overs after play started late. Leg-spinner Maxwell Richards snatched five for 13 from 5.5 overs.
CounterPoint Wanderers Juniors eased to their second straight victory reaching 100 for one in 20.5 overs. Danny Chesham sustained his early form with 42 not out, while national Under-14 skipper Yvan Grant made an unbeaten 36.
At Crab Hill, Banks Juniors recorded their second consecutive successful run-chase with a comfortable five-wicket win. Needing 174 to win, they got home with 18 balls left. Dashon Walcott led the way, fashioning an undefeated 54, spiced with seven fours and one six.
Earlier, consistent batting saw North Stars Juniors amass 173 for eight from the allotted 35 overs. Mix 96.9 FM Dover Juniors rolled over Ellerton Juniors with a seven-wicket triumph at Dover, routing them for 64 in 15.2 overs.
Medium-pacer Shakeel Turney was the chief destroyer, bagging five for 13 from his seven overs. The home side needed just 6.4 overs to achieve the target.
The tournament continues on Thursday at noon. (EDH)
