It’s the final of the underdogs.
Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC), winners of only two of their six preliminary matches, and Windward Islands, who won three times, meet in the final WICB Super50 competition at Kensington Oval today.
Both teams pulled off upsets in advancing to the championship match – a day/night contest starting at 2:30 p.m – in which they will be battling for the Clive Lloyd Trophy.
CCC crushed the previously unbeaten Trinidad and Tobago by 140 runs in the first semi-final on Thursday night, while Windwards completed a hard-fought victory by five wickets over defending champions Jamaica the following night.
Windwards will be looking for another meaningful contribution from in-form opener Devon Smith, who smashed 59 against Jamaica on Friday night, while CCC will be hoping that Anthony Alleyne will go at least one better after making 99 against Trinidad and Tobago.
