Police were yesterday investigating reports that Barbadian Adrian “AA” Sealy was among two people who drowned after a vessel capsized while on the way to Barbados from St Vincent on Sunday night.
Police public relations officer Inspector David Welch said they were trying to verify the reports.
When a NATION team visited Marl Hole Gap, St Michael, where Sealy lived, the men on the block were all dressed in black. One confirmed that word had spread that Sealy had drowned. When asked to comment on the reports, a woman at the house where he lived would only say: “Right now I?can’t deal with that.”
It is understood that two bodies washed up somewhere between St Lucia and St Vincent yesterday. Up to press time, Welch said he still had not received any confirmation of this.
Sealy, who had a long criminal record, was released from prison last year after serving a sentence.
Back in 1992 he became a fugitive when he skipped the island while facing a number of charges including aggravated robbery. He was arrested in Canada three years later and sent back to Barbados. (MB)
