THE RECENT arrest and charging of two people with human trafficking are evidence the Government of Barbados is taking the issue seriously, says Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite.
At the Soroptimist International of Jamestown’s 27th annual general meeting, held on Monday in the Hildegarde Weekes Activity Centre in Eden Lodge,
St Michael, Brathwaite – who is also the chairman of the Government’s committee on human trafficking – said he was heartened to have read of the arrests in the media.
“When I saw that article I thought it was a signal that the work of that committee is paying some dividends – that not only has the Royal Barbados Police Force established a separate unit to deal with the issue of trafficking but indeed more Barbadians are sensitive; we don’t live in Utopia,” he said.
