Pandemonium?broke out at the St Patrick’s Anglican Church during a funeral service yesterday evening when a bareback man, armed with a long sword, ran into the church packed with mourners.
Pauline Compton said she was sitting at the back of the church when the man entered and sat on a nearby bench.
“He was bareback and wearing a pants below his bottom and he had a knife longer than my arm. People just got up and started to run towards the front of the church. He ran out and then he ran back in again through another door and a man was outside pelting rocks at him.
Compton said the priest stopped the service, proceeding only when the man left.
“I?go to funerals almost every day, and I have never seen nothing like that,” Compton cried, adding that the man also slashed the tyres of three vehicles in the car park.
