Superior play at both ends of the court by Olivia Walcott and Rhe-Ann Niles carried queens CO Williams Rangers to a 4-0 record when the Barbados Netball Association’s Division 1 league continued Monday night at the Netball Stadium.
While the scoresheet would show that Rangers’ 41-21 blowout of Guardian General Pride of Villa was orchestrated by Walcott’s 33 goals from 42 attempts, the stats do not capture the numerous rebounds and blocks which the tall, high-leaping Niles contributed as goalkeeper.
Niles, who has played volleyball and basketball for Barbados, proved to be a terror for Villa as any low-flying passes were picked off and every missed shot was snared inches off of the ring.
As a result, Villa’s goal shoot Nadia Blackman was limited to just ten goals from 22 attempts, while the shorter Kelly-Ann Knight made 11 of 16.
