Foundation joins Red Cross

Date:

THE Barbados Red Cross is now 28 members stronger with enrollment of students from Christ Church Foundation School in the Youth Link programme.
Foundation joins nine other secondary schools with an average 20 children each involved in Red Cross activities that include CPR and First Aid training, HIV/AIDS prevention, water safety practices, and disaster prevention.
“There are opportunities for you, but you have to make use of them and follow through with the initiatives that are presented,” Barbados Red Cross director general Edmund Bradshaw told the all-girl gathering of Foundation School students and parents.
He said the Youth Link participants would also be involved in drill training that prepares them for national events such as Independence and Remembrance Day parades.
They were presented with certificates of enrollment by Youth Link leader for the school, English teacher Beverley Walters, at the organization’s Warrens headquarters last Saturday.
Bradshaw said that on leaving secondary school, Youth Link members have the option of moving on to the Youth Commission for people between ages 16 and 30. (GA)
