Pushing rights of the disabled

IN?TWO?WEEKS, Barbados will have an official delegation at a United Nations Conference On The Rights Of People With Disabilities that could change forever how members of the local community are treated.
Board member of the Barbados Council for the Disabled, Joseph “Johnny”?Tudor, told the SUNDAY?SUN yesterday that the July 15 conference in New York would be the dawn of a new day.
“It’s a tremendous hallmark for us in terms of education, health care, access to roads, highways and homes,”?he said.
“It sets the stage for Barbados to become accessible to visitors, able-bodied people [and] disabled individuals and it becomes very marketable for us as a country to say that we are a country that conforms, in an international sense, to all of the other requirements for persons with disabilities.”
