FISHERMEN?TURNED OUT in large numbers yesterday morning and bought every single boat at an auction yesterday  at Coast Guard headquarters on Spring Garden Highway.
All 20 boats, ranging  in price from $200 to as much as $18 000, had been confiscated mainly  in drug operations by law enforcement agencies but were now free to be sold as they were no longer under court jurisdiction.
Government auctioneer Alkins Kirton told the DAILY?NATION he was delighted that more than 100 fishermen turned up.
“We certainly had a good response from the public and they were very orderly. These boats have been confiscated over a number of years and it was heartening to see the numbers who showed interest. I am pretty satisfied about how  things went,” he said. (MK)
