Man critical after being slashed

A St Peter?man is in critical condition after being slashed several times following a family dispute yesterday just after 7 a.m.
He is 40-year-old Vaughn McClean, who was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital with one of his fingers almost severed, deep lacerations to his right calf and a wound to the face. Residents of the area recalled hearing screams and chopping sounds.
They found the man groaning in pain with blood streaming from his wounds.
A man is presently in police custody assisting with investigations into the assault.
Police public relations officer inspector David Welch said they are expected to charge someone within the next 24 hours. (MK/RL)
