Barbados does not have adequate Government support to become a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) category 1 State, director of Civil aviation, Mitchinson Becklessaid yesterday.
Addressing the first Ministry of Tourism and International Transport’s civil aviation consultation at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre,Beckles said some Government entitieswere dragging their heels.
“There must be aclear mandate givenby the Government that Barbados must become an FAA Category 1 State . . . but the problem is that [some of] the entities involved are not seeing it that way, so therefore, we need that clear mandate that all of us will be on board and move towards that goal,” he added.
Beckles later declinedto identify the Government entities which were not pulling their weight inthis regard. (CA)
