Tragedy struck at the Bridgetown Fish Market yesterday afternoon, with a worker losing her life after an attack.
Unofficial reports indicate that vendor Carolyn Forde, 49, of St Philip, was beaten about the head with a hammer, then repeatedly stabbed.
The attack was reportedly carried out in the back of the market by a man said to be well known to Forde.
The injured Forde reportedly waited a while for an ambulance to arrive.
When the DAILY NATION team arrived at the market around 5 p.m., an Island Care ambulance was taking Forde away. She was transported to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
