PRIME MINISTER Freundel Stuart  is taking the lead to resolve a dispute between the Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) and the state-run Barbados Water Authority (BWA) that has led  to delays in the installation of water mains in St Philip.
BWU general secretary Sir Roy Trotman, who insisted yesterday that the union was not to blame for the  hold-up, told reporters the Prime Minister had indicated he would be  “endeavouring to bring closure to it”.
The BWU has been insisting that workers lay the water mains for the project but the BWA wants to outsource the work.
“We’ve told [Stuart] that we look forward to his intervention because  we think that the matter really is not great but somebody who has a will  to make results take place needs to become involved,” Sir Roy said,  at a Press conference to report on discussions which a BWU delegation held with the Prime Minister Monday .
