POLICE HAVE ISSUED a fresh warning that people who wear, possess or carry any item with camouflage risk being arrested and charged.
They issued the warning against the illegal practice, saying it had begun to get out of hand.
Furthermore, the constabulary is cautioning merchants who retail such merchandise – transferring military styling to civilian fashion – that they are breaking the law.
The police notice of intended prosecution comes amidst claims that people wearing such garments have been involved in drug-related crimes.
Though not confirming these reports, police public relations officer Inspector David Welch said that each month they got cases involving people wearing or possessing items with camouflage material. In August alone, there were five such cases, he added.
