Past and present pupils and staff of The Alexandra Secondary School gathered at St Peter’s parish church yesterday morning to give thanks to God for the institution’s 119 years.
The Founders Day service had as its theme Upwards To The Stars, which Archdeacon Eric Lynch said was “a challenge to each boy and girl in this school and indeed in the whole of the Barbadian community”.
“Your theme, Upwards To The Stars, reflect well the importance of your school motto and the intention of the educators, principal and teaching staff who are here to help to shape you to be useful citizens, not only in Barbados but as the occasion arises in the wider world community.”
In her tribute to Alexandra, Mia Sealy-Howell, a past student who is now a teacher of the school, based in St Peter, traced its history and called the names of its principals. (RL)
