Mauled!

A St James woman faced one of the worst nightmares a mother could face – her screaming pre-teen son being savagely attacked by a Rottweiler.
This was the reality Connie Clarke had to grapple with on Thursday evening when her youngest child’s screams alerted her something was terribly wrong. Along with her daughter, 14-year-old Ifetayo, she rushed outside and followed the screams to where 11-year-old Zende was being mauled.
The SATURDAY SUN visited the family at their Holder’s Terrace home yesterday and got the first-hand account from Zende, whose left arm and leg were heavily bandaged.
“It happened around 6:30 p.m. I was coming home from buying bread at the shop when the dog jumped over the fence and barked at me and run me – I didn’t fret or trouble the dog or anything.
“When I was running, I tripped and the dog grabbed my leg and started to drag me around. It was scary but I wasn’t crying; I was just trying to get away,” the brave young man said.
